I live, work and play by the ocean, filling my time with painting and teaching art to children and grown-ups.
Self-taught in 2003, and teaching since 2006, my paintings tell stories of places I've travelled to and fallen in love with, places I long to return to, and moments in time that seemed to stand still long enough for me to soak them up.
DAINA
Having grown up living on the shores of the Kapuskasing River as it moved powerfully into James Bay, my connection to the land and the water is primary in my being. I’m a figurative artist who paints experiences in our lives, capturing those magical moments where we are immersed in our passion for attuning with nature.
I studied drawing and photography at NSCAD from 1994-96. A self-taught, professional painter since 2003, and creative facilitator since 2006, I've taught over 1000 students of all ages across North and Central America.
I work and play by the ocean near my home on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia.
At my Studio Gallery on Salt Spring Island, BC, I teach kids art camps, workshops in various media, paint parties for grown-ups, and offer private painting lessons for all ages and levels.
Workshops include Intro to Oil Painting, Intro to Encaustic Painting, Creative Journaling with Watercolour & Ink.

Ocean Art Studio & Gallery is on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, Canada.
The Studio is conveniently located in Merchants' Mews at 19A-315 Upper Ganges Road, above the Barber Shop. New summer 2022 hours are most days from 12-4, except when class is in session. Appointments are welcome for private viewings outside of posted hours of available paintings or for private lessons.
